Congratulations to Dr. Philip Johnson on his contribution to Nobel Prize winning research
Congratulations to Biology Assistant Professor Philip Johnson on his important contributions to the research of Svante Pääbo, the winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize in medicine!
From 2006-2014, Johnson collaborated with Pääbo on studies aimed at unlocking the mysteries of human evolution. At a time when ancient DNA research was still in its infancy, Johnson helped to develop a crucial model describing patterns of damage in DNA degradation and how the damage occurred with aging DNA. Johnson's work was invaluable to Pääbo's search for ways to demonstrate the authenticity of ancient DNA samples.
